Moco and crime

It's really not. There is no decent local news any more. Nobody is doing investigative reporting. Nobody stays on any particular beat long enough to build up expertise. Not their fault. They are all paid as stringers.

Their brains aren't fully developed.
No one died.
Locking them up isn't going to solve anything.
I read a story once about how someone like that went on to win the Nobel Prize.
It's just as dangerous in rural areas.

Any more excuses I forgot?

Unbelievable what this place has turned into

It’ll be (not) awesome when the purple line brings all of this crime right to downtown Bethesda.

I call BINGO.

PG is tough on crime, unlike MoCo. We don't have woke officials on our County Board.

Love how you take the mythical racist story of the Georgetown metro and update it for today.

The idea that Bethesda will suddenly become more accessible to crime because of an electric trolley makes me smile.

I'd agree with you except they beat a woman. That's not because they're brains aren't fully developed. It's because they haven't learned empathy or been taught right from wrong. They should not be allowed to be home free after violent behavior. Talk about sending a wrong message.

It's not racist to call out criminal behavior for what it is.

All you have to do is look at a crime map of DC. Nearly all of the crime in Ward 3 is concentrated at near the Friendship Heights and Tenleytown metro stations. I guess it’s just a coincidence.

I also supposed that this group of DC 13 year olds arrested for attempted carjacking in Rockville took an Uber there.

Apparently all of this crime just comes from nowhere and it is all just random coincidences.

BLM had a lot to do with this. They complained that black men were being stuck in jail due to being arrested for minor crimes and unable to make bail. The solution was to get rid of cash bail, so you were either released (RORed) or held if the crime was really severe.

And as we're seeing, a lot of people arrested for "minor" crimes go on to commit major crimes.

We saw the same with MCPS and having police (SROs) on campus. The claim was that black and latino men were being arrested on school grounds as a disproportionately high rate compared to other races. Indeed this was true, however no one spoke about if these arrests were justified and led to convictions. They largely did -- we didn't hear claims of false arrests. The solution to deal with this issue was to get rid of SROs. The result is increased crime on school grounds, including the first-ever in-school shooting (Magruder).

Criminals can get to Bethesda via the Red Line or J2 bus currently. Are they holding off until the Purple Line opens?

You can examine the difference between crime in Silver Spring and Bethesda and imagine how that could change when it will be a lot more convenient to travel between the two if you don’t have a car.
