Volunteer Covid Vaccine Requirement

For volunteers, the MCPS provided documents say that the vaccine requirement for volunteers started September 20, 2021. That was last school year. Given all the new information we have regarding the Covid shot, it makes no sense that this requirement is still in place.

This page explains the vaccine requirement for adult volunteers. I am assuming that if a child volunteers (for SSL hours), they do not need to be vaccinated.

We have lots of MS kids who come back to volunteer at our ES for SSL hours and they are not required to provide proof of Covid vaccination.

Sure! Who sets these guidelines for MCPS? I will happily contact them about this because it is clearly an unreasonable requirement. FWIW, I am a physician and clearly not an anti-vaxxer, but this policy is poorly thought out and unnecessary at this point in time.

Nobody is giving medical advice to you. You can get as many vaccines and boosters as you want.

This thread is about bad public health policy. This thread is about MCPS requiring Covid vaccinations for certain volunteers, without any scientific basis to support that policy.

Are you okay with MCPS being allowed to implement such random, unnecessary requirements?

Isn't the vaccination rate in Montgomery County in the high 90 percent? Why do we have to provide private medical information when pretty much everyone has been vaccinated?

My kids' pediatrician did not recommend vaccination this year. They didn't recommend against it, but said nothing about it as we were getting other vaccinations.
