They are still requiring it? I know kids are not required to be vaccinated, are teachers?
Teachers were required to be vaccinated a year ago! Not sure if teachers have a booster requirement. No booster requirement for volunteers.
Thanks. I should’ve phrased my question better. I know teachers were required to be vaccinated. I was wondering if that changed and if it has then why are they still requiring vaccines for volunteers? And before DCUM speculates, I am fully vaccinated, and my boosters are all up-to-date. (It just never made sense to me that volunteers had to be vaccinated.)
It doesn’t make sense to me either! I certainly hope there is no booster requirement for teachers. For a while, MCPS was not allowing religious exceptions for teachers. Someone took them to court and now they do allow religious exemptions. I would assume the basic vaccine requirement still stands for teachers and staff. For volunteers, the MCPS provided documents say that the vaccine requirement for volunteers started September 20, 2021. That was last school year. Given all the new information we have regarding the Covid shot, it makes no sense that this requirement is still in place.
You don't need to convince the readers here. Convince the doctors and infectious disease specialists that advise school districts, etc. about the proper guidance and then the public will listen. I have a total anti vaxxer in the family that always want to argue about vaccines but I tell him the same. Convince my md and kids pediatrician who have decades of education and experience and expertise in these matters that their guidance is wrong and then I will listen to them.
Your child's pediatrician does NOT have decades of relevant experience and I can guarantee that they simply follow the CDC schedule. If you think your pediatrician is getting into all of journals to read emerging papers about the effectiveness or side effects of the COVID vaccine, I have swampland in Florida to sell you.
