Height growth after first period?

Nope. I got my period at 10 and still grew at least 4-5 inches. I grew 2 after HS. Im 5'4''

I grew 5 inches right after I got my period at almost 14 years old. I then grew one more inch before I turned 18.

I barely grew at all after I got my period. Less than an inch. I am very short (under 5') and while my parents are also short, I am shorter than them.

Foot size doesn’t mean anything. I’m 5’2 with 9.5 sized feet.

Your pediatrician is correct.
Signed, another pediatrician and mother of DD who grew at best 1” taller after period

Yet multiple people here are showing girls grow more than 1” a lot after first period

This thread sure makes me wonder! My DD is almost 14 and 5-2. No period yet; I am 5-5 and dad is 6-2. So curious what her height will end up being!

I’m Not doubting you but why did our pediatrician tell us another 2-3 inches? (She’s already grown 2).

My adopted daughter (for context...we don't know how tall her biological parents are) is already 5 71/2" and started her period about a year ago. I'm hoping she stops soon and was wondering how long afterwards girls typically stop growing. I looked up the average height for an Ethiopian woman and it's 5'6" so she's already surpassed the average.

Why are you hoping your daughter stops growing?

Why are you hoping she stops soon? I’m 5-10 and happy to be so. Be careful you don’t express this to your daughter.

"most" is not "all" and statistics don't tell you anything about a particular individual's experience, they only tell you what to expect for a large group. there's no way to predict if your daughter will grow according to the statistics or less or more, so just keep feeding her healthy food and help her get a healthy amount of exercise and plenty of sleep. also, height is not everything in life.

Wow exact same stats here except my DH is 6’1” and my DD is 5’3”. Turns 14 next month and I think her period is about a year away yet (just a guess). I think she will end up around my height 5’5”. Wears a size 8.5 shoe. DD doesn’t seem to care and is fine with her height (which is respectable as it is) and so are we- but it is fun to speculate! I’ll bet your DD ends up about your height as well. Seems more likely than not.

NP here. I would say that "2 inches or so" and "2-3 inches" are pretty close to the same statement.
