BEFORE!
Do you your self a favor and move before, not just to minimize the amount of stuff you move, you also need to give your older child time to adjust to the new house before baby #2 arrives, changes are hard for little children, don’t overwhelm your kid |
We bought a house before the baby was born, but didn't move due to medical complications. We didn't end up moving until the baby was 3! |
Moved with an 8 week old (no toddler) and 10/10 do not recommend. We’re still unpacking boxes that got shoved into the basement or a random closet 2 years later. Definitely do it before if you can. |
Moved with a 1 year old. It was hell. My husband didn’t sleep for 3 days trying to pack us, because I could not get it done watching my kids and I tried packing for several weeks leading up to our move. It’s a good thing we are still married but the stress was unimaginable and caused a ton of conflict. |
We moved locally with a 2-year-old and a 10-day old (after a repeat c-section). It really wasn't bad but you have to be willing to throw some money at it. We hired packers and movers, and the packers came the day before we moved. I am lucky enough to have local family so the kids and I went and stayed with them for two nights while my husband worked with the movers to direct where things needed to go. I took my time unpacking and did it while the baby was dozing. Ironically my recovery from c-section two was a snap and I didnt have any lingering back pain like I did after #1. I have wondered if it was because I was forced to be a bit more active unpacking boxes, etc., and not lounging around. I had never used a packing service before and I am never going backwards! It makes the process so much easier. |
Everything is easier when pregnant. |
I second this. I'm the pp who moved 5 months pregnant. We paid for packers and it was worth every penny. They packed everything the day before the move and it made life so much easier. My toddler's room was the last thing packed and the first thing unpacked. We also had a gift waiting in the house for her the first time we took it over and it made her really excited. |
