We moved locally with a 2-year-old and a 10-day old (after a repeat c-section). It really wasn't bad but you have to be willing to throw some money at it. We hired packers and movers, and the packers came the day before we moved. I am lucky enough to have local family so the kids and I went and stayed with them for two nights while my husband worked with the movers to direct where things needed to go. I took my time unpacking and did it while the baby was dozing. Ironically my recovery from c-section two was a snap and I didnt have any lingering back pain like I did after #1. I have wondered if it was because I was forced to be a bit more active unpacking boxes, etc., and not lounging around. I had never used a packing service before and I am never going backwards! It makes the process so much easier.
I second this. I'm the pp who moved 5 months pregnant. We paid for packers and it was worth every penny. They packed everything the day before the move and it made life so much easier. My toddler's room was the last thing packed and the first thing unpacked. We also had a gift waiting in the house for her the first time we took it over and it made her really excited.
