Vaping in Williamsburg bathrooms?

Anonymous
Yeah that was going on 8 years ago when my kid was there.

And yes, I believe it at Williamsburg.

Is it less of a problem at DHMS or Swanson?

It is a problem at ALL of the middle schools. Ask your kids about how often the bathrooms are "closed" and what are the procedures to go to the bathroom during school. Middle school seems to be a real hot spot for vaping right now and because it is a gateway to other activities like drugs and alcohol abuse, you want to monitor it.

6th.

I was asking because not sure if everyone is aware, but there are certain bathrooms that certain grades use more frequently, eg eighth graders use due to proximity to their classrooms versus seventh versus six, etc. Of course everyone uses the locker room. But if this is something going on, specifically in the six grade hallway, I would certainly mention it to the assistant principal/counselor.

It shouldn’t be hard to put sensors in bathrooms for vape.

Or just aides monitor between classes?

WTF? Vaping my 11 years old does not seem appropriate

Middle schoolers can also be 14…. Or 15 if they were redshirted in K.

There are barely enough sides to staff lunch and you want them moved to the bathrooms instead?

DP. Would you really feel better about your 12 year old mixing with 15 year olds?

Irrelevant, as OP mention this is happening in the sixth grade bathroom.

+1. That said, my 8th grader said he’s never encountered anyone vaping in the bathrooms. He’s seen kids using their phones in the bathrooms, but not vaping.

That is helpful.

and this kind of parental attitude is why we have a problem with drugs. Sigh.

I asked my kid about it in DHMS and he said that he heard about it but has never seen it, and my kid is the bathroom a lot (his favorite form of class avoidance).

The snooty "oh this doesn't happen at Swanson and DHMS" just slays me.
