Metro is still supposedly doing “Last chance tryouts” for 15U-18U tomorrow when we all know they have their rosters are pretty much ready. Last chance at money grab for all these clubs.

I also think they may be looking for any super tall girls who have not found their match that could walk through the door.

This 2022 tryout season has been unprecedented chaos. Still, some Metro teams are still looking and Vienna added a third 15s team.

My daughter was told by their coach after try outs on Sunday she was the first on their waitlist for PW and that as soon as one of the first 12 declined their offer she would be next. We never got a call. And now they're still looking for girls for their team? What BS!

The rules are that families have until tomorrow night at 10 PM before offers expire (for 15s & up). Sometimes families sit on those while they wait for the one that THEY want, on top of the chaotic numbers this weekend. It's a possibility, at least.

I understand that, but how can Metro advertise that they still have room and are still looking for players, when my daughter was told by the coach after try outs on Saturday (I meant Saturday, not Sunday) that she was #1 on the waitlist, that we would hear from someone by Sunday night? It doesn't make sense, unless she flat out lied to us. I just wish these people would be honest, instead she made my daughter think she had a real chance. Just tell us it's a no and don't lead these girls on. Advertising that they still have room is cruel.

Maybe they are filling out their waitlist in anticipation of the shuffle?

And by the sheer amount of all the tryouts they had this weekend (for regionals at least) you mean to tell me they could not fill their roster? Shady business- they are showing who they are.. all about the $$$$

OP here. I have no insight on Metro Regional as neither of my kids has played for or tried out there, just posting for the community good.

At this point, before driving to any tryouts Tues or Weds, if your player has club experience, I would think it's worthwhile to email the coach for whatever age and team you are interested in and ask if they are still looking for pin hitters, back row, setter, etc.

re Vienna -- they added a third 15s team this year, so definitely worth a look, and consider reaching out to the coaches. They also have three 16s teams. Vienna is a great club with some amazing teams that get National bids depending on the year/team strength, and solid college outcomes. I have one of my own kids there this year.
