Auto repair is taking FOREVER

You didn't say what year your is, but if it is an older vehicle consider upgrading.

All 2 months of it until the insurance finally totaled my car. Did you go through Enterprise for the rental? I was fully reimbursed for the rental.

Yes I went Enterprise. Once I get the bill for everything, I get $300 back.

Btw, this Precision Collision Auto off Gude Drive. Nice guys but don’t keep their word or promises.

Get another quote. Were they recommended by your insurance company? If your car is paid off would you consider getting a new car? Mine was only a few years older than yours and my new car is light years ahead of the old one. You only have a few more good years left.

That’s a great idea, but I’m so far into this now, so it’s too late. This car was my mother’s and after she died, my dad gave it to me.. you’ll laugh, but it’s a Toyota Corolla 2005. I thought about getting a newer car, but just don’t have the funds right now. I feel like it’s all going to these undeniable people-!

My insurance company gave me a small list of companies. I tried Kenwood Auto Body but they said the age of the car wasn’t worth it. Real nice.

Undependable, not undeniable..

We are in the same situation. But we know the guys at our body shop/garage and completely trust them. They’ve had a really hard time getting parts (2022 CRV). They have one car that’s been there since February! It’s very hard to get parts right now for whatever reason.

Why isn’t the guys insurance paying for your rental?!!

Good question. Maybe because it was deemed totaled?

This summer, we had a car in the shop for over 2 months after an accident. So frustrating! But we eventually got it back and it’s running fine.

Thank you! I needed that positive post!

What? So the insurance company totaled it and you opted to take it back and repair it and accept that the car title will be marked as such? I get that the car is old which may be the main reason for the total loss, but were the damages to your car bad? Can the shop not find parts?

We had a small but deep ding & scratch in our brand new vehicle in January 2020. Even then, it took a full two weeks for the collision center in Bethesda to do the work to repair the ding, sand, and paint match. They can only do one layer of paint per day.

They did a perfect & beautiful job, but it was a frustrating two weeks with a crappy rental car. And even then the collision center charged $2500 to our insurer.

So what excuses are they giving you? Can't find parts? Paint? Short staffed?
Is the car drivable (so it's just body work)?

Agreed. I just got my car back from an accident in AUGUST.

Is this our car? Ours has been at the shop since February for parts. We had a rental for about 3 months, now just use one car.

Anonymous wrote:My car has been in a shop in Rockville nearly a month, and I’m at my wits end trying it back. It was in an accident mid October, and a guy ran a stop sign
and hit my right back door.
They keep putting me off saying it’s almost ready. They have to paint, and it is the same song and dance.
I called a friend today and he got in touch with them and jacked them up. Just all empty promises and a nightmare.

I’m paying through the nose for a rental car in the process.

What do I do to get my car back? These people are certainly not getting 5 stars from me.

Why are you paying? Their insurance company should be paying. Loss of use is something that you are entitled to. Even better is that a very expensive rental bill encourages insurance companies to lean on repair shops to speed up.

The insurance company said that they would pay between 10 days to 2 weeks after the accident occurred and after that it would be out of pocket. It took a long time to find a good body shop (this one has a lot of 4-5 star reviews on Yelp).

How long could it possibly take to find a body shop? If you delayed, no wonder you are having an insurance problem. When all is said and done just submit to the insurance of the person who hit you.
