Thanks but I don't need parenting advice.

Then why are you asking for advice on a parenting board?

I don't want that blown to smithereens when DD has to go to HS. We are trying to find a private HS that starts no earlier than 8:30. Can you please help? I'm making a list of those and then we will begin considering based on price before touring, etc.
Thanks.

Cathedral schools start at 8 but have one day every 7 day rotation where they go in at 9:10. It sounds like Madeira and a few others start at 8:30. I guess it depends on where you live and what’s closest.

Bold where op asked for parenting advice. You won’t be able to.

This may be outdated information (alum parent here), but Field historically started at 8:50a.

Asking for schools with later start times it’s not the same thing as asking for “parenting advice.” Are you really that dense?

Boarding school cuts out all the commute time.

SAES
8:45 morning meeting, first class starts at 9

GDS classes start at 8:45. Busses arrive at 8:00 (since younger kids start then), but HS kids can hang out, eat breakfast, etc.

You do need parenting advice if you're expecting everything to revolve around your child. He's not five anymore. Oh and there will be an increased homework load and school activities that run late.

What is wrong with you people that you have to make judgmental comments like this in response to OP’s question?

I have a child that struggles with depression and insomnia. Finding a school with a more reasonable start time was definitely a criteria we considered.

SSSAS also starts around 8:30.

Thank you! I’m making my list. Appreciate all the helpful responders. Ignoring the judgmental haters.

Not private but don't Loudon County HS start after 9am?

I remember finding this out when we looked at a house there.

It’s not even a parenting board. I mean, have you seen all the posts in various DCUM forums from non-parents? Whenever someone asks why they are on DCUM lots of people jump in and say it’s not a parenting board.

NP, I know this is an old post but this is also on my radar for our kid with insomnia/anxiety/extreme difficulty getting up early, so I wanted to share the data I've collected (yes this is actually a column in my spreadsheet).

Templeton starts at 9am
St. Andrew's Episcopal at 8:45
Nora School at 8:45
Parkmont at 8:30

And Fusion has completely flexible scheduling - you can do a full-time course load with a 10:30-3:30 schedule (or possibly even later) if you want.
