It did. Dc gave it back. |
Yet, how many governors would envy a declining population, exorbitant cost of living, chronic homelessness, rising crime, and the clowns on the city council? |
|
I like how this is presented that DC could just decide to do it and no one else gets a say.
Maryland doesn’t want DC. Either DC stays as it is or it miraculously gets made a state. Status quo seems most likely. |
Yeah, and VA doesn’t want any part of DC. So many of us left for a reason! Not that statehood is even a possibility |
| Just send DC back to Maryland..... |
Maryland doesn’t want it. |
DC doesn’t want that either. |
| This thread is like people discussing what would happen if they found a billion dollars. It doesnt matter because it's not going to happen. |
Only because DC taxes are so crazy high. Give the money back to taxpayers. |
| I'd be happy to have the state absorb DC. No, I would not want my burb absorbed by you. |
It's like the threads about a 4th airport for our region or a new Potomac River crossing or a new owner for the NFL franchise. Maybe fun to talk about but not going to happen. |
Don't forget the public schools. They are ranked 49th in the country. |
Maryland should want it. Being able to control the entire B-W corridor provides huge opportunities for economic development. |
I know I would hate to be the Governor of WVa, MIss, etc. |
| MD and VA would never consent to that, and their consent is required by the Constitution (to the extent DC statehood would be upheld as constitutional at all, which is unlikely given the current composition of the Supreme Court). |
