At 2:45 p.m. on Sept. 8, three men entered Prince Jewelers in Tyson’s Corner Center. They destroyed display cases and stole high-end watches and jewelry. At 1:06 p.m. on Sept. 18, two men entered Henzley Jewelers in Fair Oaks Mall. They also destroyed the display case and stole a number of high-end watches.

Preliminarily, detectives believe the same three men are responsible for these two incidents. In each case, they used hammers to destroy the display cases and fled the scene in stolen vehicles. The stolen vehicles were found in nearby parking lots. Detectives continue to investigate, including an extensive review of surveillance footage. The suspects are described as Black men, approximately 6’ and an average build. In both incidents, the suspects were wearing gloves and masks.

At 11:50 a.m. on Sept. 20, two men entered Sonia’s Jewelers & Boutique Inc. located at 6681 Backlick Road in Springfield. The first man was let into the store under the guise of shopping for jewelry. Once inside he presented a handgun and instructed employees to let the second man inside. The two men used hammers to destroy the display cases and fled the scene in a black Lexus SUV with stolen license plates. The stolen vehicle in this case has not been recovered.

It's all connected isn't it...robberies, stolen vehicles, dismantled task forces, relaxed penalties. Doesn't seem like criminals are being restored by restorative justice, unless that means restoring their pockets or breaking into stores..

These robberies occurred in Tysons and Springfield VA. Please list what penalties you think have been relaxed for robbery in VA or what your reference to “restorative justice” possibly means in this context/jurisdiction.

Or maybe you are just one of those posters who like to just shout about “law and order” without any concern for facts.

I'm guessing the getaway car is related to rampant, unchecked car crime across the DMV. There is no will to collaborate across state lines or address it. It's treated as a property crime and passed off to insurers

I cannot believe that you excuse these crimes away with this lame excuse.

So, the next time some criminal intentionally rear ends you in order to car jack you, we'll just say.... "Yawn. You have insurance."

Has been happening all over Alexandria for years. You’re just noticing now, why? Because it was in Tysons?

Add to that nu,erous smash and grabs at Pemtagon. It’s Mall and in Old Town Alexandria. Police forces are understaffed and stop chasing car jackets when they arrive at a bridge. The only recent exception was when a child was in the carjacked car. Them they followed the car to DC and got the car and Kid back.

Just like you have insurance when s smash and grabber decides to smash and grab you. Hope it’s the kind that pays for long term nursing facility to manage traumatic brain injury.

Another blood thirsty Dumpster, am I right?

Another liberal who will become a Dumpster after their kid’s beaten to death by one of those criminals and they pees their pants during the restorative justice hearing that sets the nice criminal free.

True. People are stupid until something happens to them or their family. They also don't think what legalizing crime does to society their kids will have to adjust to live in. What happens eventually when people lose trust in our justice system and when regular citizens will be subjected to these crimes on regular basis, is that citizens will start arming themselves. And then there is the all out war between the armed criminals and armed citizens. Awesome times.

When "smash and grabbers" start coming after regular citizens and their homes, and when there is a critical mass of these crimes that go unpunished encouraging criminals to boldly continue this as "alternative career", then citizens will have no choice but to arm themselves, it's a logical progression of this trend.

Not scared of them, just feel sorry for them. Since the Great Society, the underclass of BIPOC have been pushed further down the opportunity ladder with bad schools, bad housing, absentee fathers, food deserts, equity programs that only enrich middle class BIPOCs who peddle them, and governments whose only interest in them is their vote. The scared people are these sad sack BIPOCs whose only way of getting food, diapers for their baby mommas, and drugs for their grannies is to smash and grab.

Do you really think anything short of the death penalty counts as restorative justice, because that’s what I am taking away from this discussion.

Oh also thar criminals get deterred by strict penalties but don’t know what the penalties are in different jurisdictions
