At 2:45 p.m. on Sept. 8, three men entered Prince Jewelers in Tyson’s Corner Center. They destroyed display cases and stole high-end watches and jewelry. At 1:06 p.m. on Sept. 18, two men entered Henzley Jewelers in Fair Oaks Mall. They also destroyed the display case and stole a number of high-end watches.

Preliminarily, detectives believe the same three men are responsible for these two incidents. In each case, they used hammers to destroy the display cases and fled the scene in stolen vehicles. The stolen vehicles were found in nearby parking lots. Detectives continue to investigate, including an extensive review of surveillance footage. The suspects are described as Black men, approximately 6’ and an average build. In both incidents, the suspects were wearing gloves and masks.

At 11:50 a.m. on Sept. 20, two men entered Sonia’s Jewelers & Boutique Inc. located at 6681 Backlick Road in Springfield. The first man was let into the store under the guise of shopping for jewelry. Once inside he presented a handgun and instructed employees to let the second man inside. The two men used hammers to destroy the display cases and fled the scene in a black Lexus SUV with stolen license plates. The stolen vehicle in this case has not been recovered.

It's all connected isn't it...robberies, stolen vehicles, dismantled task forces, relaxed penalties. Doesn't seem like criminals are being restored by restorative justice, unless that means restoring their pockets or breaking into stores..

These robberies occurred in Tysons and Springfield VA. Please list what penalties you think have been relaxed for robbery in VA or what your reference to “restorative justice” possibly means in this context/jurisdiction.

Or maybe you are just one of those posters who like to just shout about “law and order” without any concern for facts.

Didn’t VA sentence prisoners to death more often in the past? I’d say that penalty has been relaxed too much. If we publicly executed these robbers, maybe things would turn around.

Want to add that I know this wouldn’t work in DC. Just pointing out the difference in jurisdictions, and how VA has become appallingly relaxed.

Meh they probably aren’t from Virginia. My car was stolen from me at gunpoint here in Virginia (ffx co). I had to testify because my car was then used in a burglary. The guys were from Montgomery county, md. The whole thing was a disaster including me taking off from work to testify, not being able to get my car back for weeks because it was evidence and rental cars are hard to come by (particularly one that fits 3 in car seats).

This was not their first crime, just their first as adults. What happened to juvenile detention centers? Crime rings are using kids because they know we don’t care or prosecute.

This is what happens when republicans take over. Virginia is screwed.

LOL, OK. Like this is new? You put “smash and grab” in your thread title because…we all know what that is, dummy. I worked at a mall in Indiana in 1998 and there was a smash and grab robbery in the jewelry store. Like, this is a thing.

+1. That's why you have insurance. And, why are all the small businesses closing?

It will be interesting to see the rap sheets of these criminals once they are apprehended.

You know this isn't their first crime. And, it will be interesting to see what sentences they received for their past crimes.
And, how Steve Descano handles these cases.

Are you high? Virginia doesn’t sentence people to death for robberies! (Robberies that don’t also involve a murder, that is.)
