Should Adnan Syed’s charges be vacated?

this shouldn't be that hard for amateur sleuths to figure out....

n their reinvestigation, prosecutors found a document in the state’s trial file detailing one person’s statement, saying that one of the suspects had motive to kill Ms. Lee and had threatened her in the presence of another person. The suspect said “he would make her [Ms. Lee] disappear. He would kill her,” according to the court filing.
That information was never given to the defense, the filing said. Prosecutors are required by law to give defense counsel exculpatory evidence upon request.
The reinvestigation also revealed that the grassy lot where Ms. Lee’s car was found in Baltimore was located behind a house that belonged to one suspect’s relative.

from the same article!! Wow.

Further revelations include that one of the suspects, “without provocation or excuse,” attacked a woman he didn’t know while she was in her vehicle. One suspect was accused and later convicted of rape and sexual assault. Both incidents occurred after Mr. Syed’s trial, prosecutors said, but they added that they found the information relevant given the possible involvement of the suspects.

Same here. And there were definitely some issues with the prosecution not turning over evidence they should have.

I think he is innocent. And I hope he gets a HUGE settlement from this.

I always thought he was innocent.

My personal opinion is that he is innocent.

At the very minimum he should have a new trial. It sounds like they were pretty violations especially with the two suspects, one of which threaten to kill Hae.

I would like to see justice for Adnan and for Hae. My heart goes out to her family because I know they believe Adnan is guilty and this must be excruciating for them to have this case constantly brought back up and the Band-Aid ripped open. But I leave that at the feet of the prosecutors, police and judge who allowed for such a shoddy investigation and trial.

He's guilty. His cell phone placed him near Lee's body. He was unable to account for his whereabouts when Lee was missing. Jay testified that he helped Syed hide the body. The biggest argument from Syed defenders is that Jay is "shady." Well guess what? A lot of witnesses in criminal trials are "shady" because they did criminal things and knew criminals. Syed is guilty. I invite anyone to read the original trial transcripts. No trial is perfect but there was no reversible error. The recent MD appeals court decision explained this well.

I couldn't take anything Jay said seriously.

I thought the cell phone location evidence was inaccurate. It was brand new technology and I thought they found something off with it

The trail was flawed and he has served 20+ years.

Time to let him out.

This case illustrates some interesting points:
1. How straight forward cases can be turned into entertainment because few are willing to do their own research. Serial was an awesome podcast but it was entertainment. They had a stake is creating confusion and doubt. For many Serial is there only exposure to the case. I really question the deductive skills of anyone who has read the transcript and other resources and thinks he Adnan innocent.
2. Jay is shady but he knew details of the crime that only the killer or accomplice could know. It is impossible for Jay to not be involved. If Jay was involved Adnan was involved. They admit to spending the day together and lots of evidence backs that up. The expectation that an accomplice to murder would only tell the truth and not be shady is strange.
3. It isn't the prosecutions job to hunt down every detail to satisfy the public who might become interested decades later. It was an easy case to prove and they proved it.

That being said, I know he is guilty but if the prosecution violated the law he deserves a retrial.

AT&T's cover sheet literally said that incoming calls could not be used for reliable location information.

Shady people are not trustworthy people. I think he was lying. Because he’s shady.

NEWSFALSH: All murder accomplices are shady. That is why you need to collaborate their information with other evidence. Jay lied and Adnan is a killer. Both of these things are rather obvious if you research beyond what Serial and Undisclosed (both podcasts created to introduce doubt by obscuring timelines and evidence).

You see it here about the coversheet. I forget the detail now but there was never an issue with the way the investigation used the cell phone data. This coversheet is one of the numerous examples of red herrings introduced to trick people into thinking this case was complex.
