| Funny that people would “blame” a HoS for focusing on academics over football. Hmm. |
Should be able to do both. |
He doesn’t know what he is doing and that is the problem. I have spoken with more than a few unhappy families. These same families would have talked Bullis up just a few years back too. I agree with another poster who said he should be able to do both. The school was once well rounded. It’s starting to not feel that way anymore. |
| It seemed to me that the school used to focus too heavily on sports and now under the leadership of the current HiS, it is much better balanced. I know many families that think this is a positive. Sports and arts are still a core part of the student experience, so not sure how this isn’t well rounded? |

Maybe in upper school, but they have taken it away in the lower school. |
Have taken what away? Sports? Arts? Something else? |
I have nothing to do with Bullis so no dog in this fight. However, is recruiting football talent something you can pin on the headmaster? That’s on the coach and AD and perhaps admissions. Unless I’m missing something, I think the headmaster has many other responsibilities and athletics are not his fault. |
| I don’t really have a dog in the fight either. However I will say that football plays a significant role in bringing the school together. People in the community don’t want to lose that. |

are you blind to what is going on?
the previous headmaster, Boarman, was obsessed with having a top-notch football program at all costs. He would be seen running up and down the sidelines during games, even in the team huddle at times. Bullis was bringing in football players left and right, while some could do the work, others simply couldn't keep up with the academics. Many parents in the community raised their eyebrows when learning some football players were going to Bullis for very little when some of the families didn't even qualify for much aid at all. The new headmaster seems to have right-sized the "recruiting budget" for the football program and most parents appear to be a lot happier under the current administration. |
| Middle school kids have to play a sport or do another activity each trimester. No cuts but some of the sports (e.g., boys soccer, lacrosse) will have multiple teams. |
I think it’s good that the headmaster supported the football team as much as he was. Was he that way with other sports? Parents shouldn’t be worried about what other students are paying? Worry about what you and your family has to pay. Nosey mf’s. If your statement about him bringing in kids who couldn’t do the work is accurate, that is not okay. |
The previous headmaster put a heavy emphasis on football, lacrosse hoops and the boys/girls track program. While all the programs had a ton of success at Bullis and some still do, it came at the expense of other athletic offerings. Case and point, the Bullis AD (also a Bullis alum) who had worked at the school for 2 plus decades, was pushed out by the new headmaster. |
