I’m trying not to get too depressed about it because it’s early days still and there’s no telling who from the current board is going to run again and who’s not, and maybe there’s room for sensible Republicans or Democrats somewhere. But man. This is depressing.

Megan McLaughlin is a reasonable SB member. Ilryong Moon was a great at-large candidate that I wish would come back. Fairfax is a primarily democratic community so the best source of community action is speaking with the Fairfax Democratic party and voicing the kinds of traits we value in candidates. Solutions to problems with the SB are not found through the GOP by any means.

When the reporter asked, do you regret that you did it OR do you regret that you got caught? and the fat guy paused for a long time....OMG. There is only one appropriate answer to that question and if you don't know that, you should not be on the SB.

It's the converse of what Trump once said. In this case there are disappointing people on both sides. I don't find the likes of Karl Frisch or Elaine Tholen any less vile or disgusting, considering the number of people harmed by their actions (and inactions).

Agreed. The fact that there’s some internecine fighting among the far-right Republicans right now that is grist for the crazy-left Democrats doesn’t make ANY of them more attractive as candidates! Our current School Board member is a spineless do-nothing, so the FCDC can forget it if they think our community will vote for her again.

But Moon was forced out by Omeish and her cronies gaming the system through the Fairfax County Democratic Party. I think I agree with the broader point though, the only hope is for sensible Democrats to unseat the current crazy-pants/do-nothing Democrats. A single Republican school board member or even 2 would probably just function as sideline bomb-throwers like Elizabeth Schultz used to be.
