GOP is gonna have to do better than this in the school board elections:

| They’re also tearing each other apart. Bunch of nuts. |
That was the other thing I took from the video of the meeting - everyone in the meeting seems pretty insane. |
| And not just any kid. A current school board member's kid. |
| The base school for one of them has one of the largest, if not the largest autism centers in FCPS. |
| of course they did. this is not surprising at all. While I dislike the current board- republicans don't care about children and would be a bigger mess than the current crew. |
And liberals care about children? Bwahahhahhahah! |
Exactly. |
| I hate this. We’re stuck with the clown show of the progressive establishment who is so far off base in so many respects - or the clown show of Republicans who just want to “own the libs.” |
Yep, this should be an election where republicans have a chance to make serious inroads. It looks like they've collectively decided to embrace crazy and not field viable candidates |
There's no happy medium anymore. If you're a D or R and attempt to compromise or disagree with the extreme of your own party than you're exiled and publicly and relentlessly torn apart. |
Democratic don’t make fun of disabilities as a general principle. But republicans love trump mocking disabilities and the less fortunate. |
The local Democrats are masters of hypocrisy, as illustrated by their expanding West Potomac to 3000 kids so kids don’t have to attend under-enrolled Mount Vernon, or overriding an FCPS staff recommendation in order to ensure that not a single apartment building feeds into uber-rich Langley. And let’s not forget their acknowledging to each other behind the scenes that the TJ admissions changes appeared to be anti-Asian. Laughing, even involuntarily, at the former student’s performance is bad form for someone aspiring to public office, but the current School Board disappoints in many ways as well. |
I also think they know the "answers" because they think education is simple because they haven't worked in it before and don't appreciate the complexity. I think we really need people who are more deeply informed about public education than some of the current folks on the SB, and some of who are focused more on the nuts and bolts of accounting/operations, but I'll take dems over GOP any day. Especially these days where the GOP has gone nuts. |
I’m trying not to get too depressed about it because it’s early days still and there’s no telling who from the current board is going to run again and who’s not, and maybe there’s room for sensible Republicans or Democrats somewhere. But man. This is depressing. |
