Where to purchase fresh figs

Bacon wrapped figs.

The fresh figs at trader joes are hard and dry so they will survive transport. They are sweet though and a big box for only $5

The whole foods are more expensive but very tender and juicy. Some might be weepy though. And that's your official fig report!

OP here. Are you offering to share? If you are in DC or close enough to the line, I will definitely come take some.

I'm definitely sharing, but I'm in Loudoun County.

Are yours ripe? My DC fig trees have a ton, but they're still hard.

I’ve had 3 gigs ripen so far in MoCo. There’ll be a glut in mid-September.

I bought a box of figs from Trader Joe's. They were delicious. But you have to eat them fast. Even the next day they were just meh.

They really irritated my tongue. Is that normal or an allergic reaction?

If you ate an entire box, the seeds might irritate your tongue, but that would be the least of your problems, because that is a LOT of fiber. I think you're allergic

The fig sap can irritate.

/\ /\ Seemed to be the fuzz on the outside of the figs that irritated my tongue. Felt almost instantly like I had eaten a really hot piece of pizza and burned my tongue. They were supposed to be organic. I wonder if they weren't.
