Where to purchase fresh figs

Anonymous
I tasted fresh figs for the 1st time in my life and wow! So delicious! Where in DC can I purchase? I go to Mom's and Yes Organic frequently and have never seen them.

TIA!

I've bought them at Trader Joe's, Fresh Market, and Dawson's Market. Usually in early September, I think? They're definitely not available year-round.

Wonder if we were at the same party with the guy super into figs encourage everyone to try the different preparations. Now idea how I went 40+ years without eating fresh figs. Picked mine up at Fresh Market, they had 3 or 4 varieties, I got the black mission. Did learn I like them firm.

My backyard tree. It's loaded with figs.

OP, if you have space plant a fig tree. They are completely fuss-free and look beautiful even without fruit.

OP here. Are you offering to share? If you are in DC or close enough to the line, I will definitely come take some.

Thanks. My neighbor has one and this is the 1st year that fruit is growing. I'm going to ask her for a few. I did notice that the birds (large black noisy-crows?) love them so we may not get to enjoy them. I am considering adding a tree to my yard.

I'm definitely sharing, but I'm in Loudoun County.

FIgs are like peaches in that they don't really travel that well. The store bought ones are often disappointing.

What do you do with them? I bought some from TJs and will eat with goat cheese on a sandwich. What else?
