When I was in middle/high school, I had a 2 Live Crew cassette tape (with warning label, thanks to Tipper) titled Nasty as They Wanna Be. You didnt?

I believe I was 17 when the song “I want to f you like an animal” was popular. I was maybe 14 when “I wanna sex u up” was popular. These themes arent new in music teens like to listen to.

I danced and sang Like A Virgin like a BOSS in 3rd grade!

It only got worse. Music is amazing

OP, you can’t be serious?!?!?!?!?

LOL I lived 2 Live Crew. Great party music.

C’mon Babe lyrics

When the party's over, we can get together,
Go to my house and f*ck forever,
And do whatever comes to mind
Let me stick my dick in your behind
You can pour me a glass of Dom Perignon
Then suck my dick until I cum
Soft is your body, tender is your kiss
c'mon, baby, we can do this!

I recently caught a snippet of a song from Grease in some store or other, which brought back floods of memories of dancing and singing to the album in my best friend’s living room for endless hours one summer.

In retrospect, what on EARTH were our parents thinking??? “Tell me more, tell me more, did she put up a fight?”????

OP, are you literally asking if teens rebelling against the social strictures of their parents is "normal"?

Did you grow up with humans?

My 12 year old seem to like choir singing. Then, proceeds to be performing with the choir. So loud. I guess that is the same as dealing with a new violin or any other instrumental practice at home.

Absolutely normal. Hip hop and rap. Even pre teens. When my teen DS was eleven, his English teacher assigned Mary Shelley’s “Frankenstein.” We were traveling and got it on books on tape. Of course it’s written in flowery 19th century English. After a while, DW had a fit, switched it off and said this was inappropriate for fifth graders and they should be reading “Charlottes’ Web.” DS (half White/half Asian) agreed and said “I don’t get any of this! All I get is there’s this dude who made a monster that chased him out of his crib so he was hangin’ with his homie and when he got back to his crib the monster be gone, ya feelin’ me?” I asked him what happened earlier and again got it completely correct but in language that I understand but can’t speak. This comes from the music they listen to.

I told DS he could make a lot of money translating the classics into hip hop.
