| I've noticed that my teen daughter has been listening to a lot of distasteful music lately. Lots of cursing, sex, drugs, etc. Is this normal? |
| Yes |
| Sure. I listened to stuff that my parents considered distasteful too, when I was a teenager. |
LOL |
And yet here we all are, largely functional adults with jobs and families and mortgages. |
| Troll fail. |
Hi Tipper! |
|
Ha, what did you listen to as a teen OP?
|
Very few here would know the reference without looking it up. |
Oh, I’m sure there are plenty of us Gen Xers with teenagers here. |
+1 I was just discussing this very topic with my gen x friend. With the advent of music streaming, we can easily listen to the songs of our youth and generation. Lots of misogyny, allusions to date rape, vulgar language and tons of n bombs dropped. We have no right to complain about what today's kids are listening to. The porn they watch is a completely different story, though... |
She was behind the "explicit lyrics" label, right? |
| Most of my music has explicit lyrics, and I am a grandmother. |
You just made me feel very old |
PP with the “Hi Tipper” comment. I’m 45 with an almost 19 yo and almost 15 yo. On the tween/teen forum, I’d expect a number of us to remember the Tipper Gore crusade. |
