Would you use newly expired cake flour?

Yes. Just take a look inside to see if there's anything squirming around. Which BTW, has nothing to do with expiration date - I've seen little weavels in foodstuffs that had been recently opened and non-expired, and had perfectly good grains and flours that were long expired.

Yup this. And technically weevils are edible but they’re gross and most of us would rather not have them in our cake I assume.

Agree with most of the posters. It should be fine. White flour, including cake flour should be ok. Like a pp said, give it a sniff first, and if it smells off, toss it. Or if there are bugs in it.

You should store your whole wheat flour in the fridge because it is more likely to go rancid than white flour because of the oils in the bran & germ that aren’t eliminated in the milling process.

I wouldn’t use it. I’d be afraid it would taste stale.
