Does your middle school use lockers?

Irving is by request only. Most of those who request only use it for the coldest days when they actually wear a coat.

Key Middle School -- lockers available if kid asks for one to be assigned but they aren't assigned in general.

They started to, by request, but I’m not sure how many actually use them.

And no, most do not wear coats with or without lockers.

Yes, and they are also making a rule that backpacks have to stay in lockers. Essentially forcing kids to have to make endless trips to their locker for supplies. It doesn’t make sense.

I guess they don’t have many drug dealings?

Not that poster but I think they are referring to decades ago when drug deals used to happen by lockers. The lockers aren’t secure enough to keep drugs. The sad but true truth is they vape and sell in the bathrooms now.

My petite kid got scoliosis from a heavy backpack in sixth grade, when she was required to carry everything from room to room. Keep an eye on your kids’ development.

Not possible. Scoliosis is genetic.

To add. In 80% of cases they don’t know what causes it.

This is how it was in the late 90s in middle school here. You would carry the textbook and binder you needed to each class. You weren't allowed to carry a backpack. There was plenty of time.

But now there is more stuff to carry - laptops, water bottle, etc.

We were allowed to carry our backpacks around to classes. Can’t imagine not being able to. I have supplies in there I may need - like tissues, feminine products, chapstick.
