Kia telluride mark up- worth the hype?

Yeah, and what’s the saying about opinions….

I have a fully loaded Telluride and I absolutely love it. I have posted about it here before. I could have gotten a more expensive SUV, I looked at the Audi e-tron($70k was just too much, I pay cash for my cars), previous car was a ML450 so didn’t repeat that because I wanted to stop paying for premium gas and the BMW was just a no. I test drove the Telluride on a whim and just fell in love.

However, I would not pay over MSRP. I did not. There are several dealers that will sell at MSRP if you are willing to wait and not buy off the lot. I purchased from Kia Dealership in Salisbury, MD, I did have to wait almost 6 months for it, but I got exactly what I wanted. I think Timbrook Kia and Winchester Kia are also selling at MSRP (they were last year).

The car isn’t selling out all over the country and winning awards left and right for nothing. I’m not saying it’s the same as luxury German vehicles, it’s definitely not. The car is a little redesigned for 2023, and honestly would probably not buy a 2023 because they discontinued the coolest thing about it (Amber daytime running lights and the Nightfall trim).

Ha, I miss the cool DRLs too, though I do really like the new X-Pro trim level.

Think really hard about buying a Kia!!! Look at my thread below about my mom's Kia Soul- it's not a Telluride but the experience with Kia and how they do not stand behind their own bad craftmanship!

For a KIA?! Nope.

I don't see your link, but regarding the Kia Soul... we talked about buying a car for my 15yo and she mentioned the Soul a few times. I priced them and thought they were somewhat "cute" but a litle overpriced for a Kia (DH and I were considering a Honda or Toyota). Anyway, I pointed one out to my DD and asked if she liked the color; she was appalled and said she was not serious and that the Kia Soul is a joke... a meme among kids her age. Other than the cars makes that we have owned, she didn't know many others, but knew for sure that she would be the laughing stock if she actually drove up in a Kia.

I agree with PP. You should widen your search for a dealer that won't charge over msrp.

You haven't driven the Telluride!

Kia Telluride and the Hyundai Palisade look to be the latest suburban status vehicles. They're all over the place in Loudoun.

I have no doubt the markups are insane and people with more money than brains are snapping them up.

We love our kia sorento plug in hybrid, but yes probably overpaid. We never have to use gas for in town travel and it has a fold down third row.

I have. The top trim too. It just wasn’t that nice for the price. I’d buy one at a discount maybe, but I wouldn’t pay anywhere near what they are charging, and looking around my neighborhood, most people agree with me.

A Sonata is a Hyundai sedan. And your post is incredibly classist. Are you 60+? Who TF makes snide welfare comments in 2022?

+1. Technologies of South Korean companies are advanced and top notch.

Maybe, but the interior finishes are just now luxurious at all. Even on the top trims.

It seems like a lot of money to pay and then be still driving a Kia.

Stupid telluride.
I was intrigued by them when they first came out and almost bought one but the only one we could find was a terrible green color.
I bought an Audi Q7 instead and after 3 tears my wife still wants a telluride. No idea what the deal is with these cars and lots of women who seem to love them.
Now I am going to have basically of 2 of the same car. Stupid telluride - it’s like crack for some people or something.

don't buy into the hype and overpaying for cars. The National Assoc of Auto Dealers created this by saying there is a car shortage and the media ran with it.

Do this, go talk to the dealer, walk away and your phone will be ringing with the salesman sayin he talked to his manager and we can sell the car at.........

Dude, there has been a well documented car shortage for over a year. Q isn’t hiding the cars in a secret underground salt mine.
