This. She is severely mentally ill. I kind of wish whoever is helping her out would post something afterwards. If anyone is helping her out, that is. I'm not sure I really believe her account of 22 years of drinking herself to death. I am not sure if that post is still up but she described pouring vodka into all types of containers, even on travel. It's a little hard to believe.

I actually like Dooce and liked her earlier writing. In a certain way, a serious addiction would actually make a lot of sense in retrospect. But who knows.

Well, as a mental health professional, I can tell you that she's off something other than just her Adderall.

That was sad and scary to read.

I have no idea how old her kids are - I haven't read/heard about her in 10+ years - but if she still has minors in her custody, someone who cares for her and them should immediately take them away.

No, her comments were very anti-trans. Her younger child switched to they/them pronouns a while back, and the speculation is that a significant part of this rant was Dooce rejecting her child’s transition.

She's equating her body dysmorphia (manifesting as Anorexia) with the body dysmorphia of trans people. And the Adderral she was given that "helped" her maintain anorexia as the equivalent of giving trans people testosterone to fix their own dysmorphia.

+1 i think in retrospect we are starting to understand that the extremely prolific, extremely personal-detail-sharing bloggers and influencers were not a product of their time -- ie, blogging in the 2000-2010s or Instagram in 2020 or whatever -- but people living with untreated addictions and/or mental illnesses who connected with the medium of the moment. you can't seek out and work to keep at being a bigtime blogger or influencer on the internet and be a truly mentally healthy person.

i wish her the best and the help she deserves. sad story.

This is really haunting me, I think because I have close relatives who suffer from manic episodes and psychotic breaks. The style of her writing is so typical of someone in the midst of such an episode, particularly her insistence that she is “on a mission” and feels called to uncover some grand truth. She needs to be hospitalized, now. And when she is well, she will face the pain and humiliation of seeing what she wrote, and how she posted terrible things that she likely does not actually believe. I can’t emphasize enough how painful this part of the process is for people recovering from psychosis.

Meanwhile, commenters on IG are berating her for the awful things she is saying, which is completely understandable, but still sad. If you have never been around someone in the grips of this type of mental break, it’s definitely hard to grasp. Just horrible to see someone melt down this way so publicly. I do hope she has someone who can commit her, ASAP. She is at extremely high risk of suicide in this state.

Yup. All of this. I hope she gets help.

I follow her ex's wife (Mom101) and it seems like Dooce's kids are safe and sound in NY not Utah so that's a relief.

Reminds me of some friends of mine who have been blogging about themselves/ their families for a long time. It just wears thin. I think people run out of stuff to say plus trying ti maintain a personal brand never works, because human beings aren’t brand concepts.

Holy crap. I am speechless at her latest post. I used to be a huge fan of her and her blog when she first started out, especially since our oldest daughters are about the same age, and both had developmental delays so I felt such empathy and kinship with her. Plus I loved her writing style, and her dogs. But man oh man.... this is just... I have no words.
