Embryos are now considered "dependents" in GA for tax purposes

People will just add one to their number of dependents. Dont be so dramatic.

But think of all the dependents at fertility clinics. That's a huge offset to the price of IVF

As a person who doesnt support abortion in all scenarios, this is accurate. I think all of this is great. Yes, give them tax breaks! Let them use the HOV! Force dads to pay up!

And when women on here said they wouldnt have as much premarital sex, I thought, wow, thats an unintended benefit. It would be fantastic for people to have less casual sex. Esp with monkeypox going around. I didnt expect all these social benefits from the Roe decision.

That already happened before Roe was overturned

I think there's some rule about how long that person was a "dependent".

Airlines should now be able to charge pregnant women as "two persons", same for any public transportation. You should be forced to buy two bus tickets.

Airlines don't charge for lap babies( children under 24 months who will be sitting on parent's lap throughout flight. Why should the charge babies in the belly?

For one. So as some other posters are saying, if someone is pregnant with multiples would only the first be free? You can only have one lap child per person.

This is the Twilight Zone. It's crazy, and since the Supreme Court opened the door to it, I think embryos from forced birth states should count on Federal taxes too.

Yep. Also if a woman is pregnant and also has a child under 2, she can't claim that child as a "lap baby" if she is already claiming the child in utero. But...I'm strongly against "lap babies" (the already born ones) anyway...so if this can be used to get rid of that, I'm all for it.

That's already happens in new York City, you watch law and order

Have we discussed "kids eat for free" nights at restaurants? All you can eat buffets for the five and under crowd? Since we're not respecting women's bodily autonomy, I think pregnant women should be in on this deal-- if businesses are located in forced birth states, then heavily subsidized or free meals at places that offer this sort of thing.
I would have viewed unlimited meals as a perk in my second trimester.

Theme parks? Reduced ticket prices at museums and cultural sites?

Don't you need an SSN to get a federal tax credit? I seriously doubt you'll get one without a birth certificate.

No can do. That would make the embryos illegal immigrants. The Constitution is quite clear about no citizenship before birth.

But the rule says only one baby per lap, so I have no idea where that leaves women pregnant with twins.

Great, now we'll need to deport all the pregnant women.

I said a few weeks ago in another thread that it is going to be considered kidnapping with intent to kill if a pregnant woman crosses state lines to have an abortion.

People said I was overreacting, and that it was unconstitutional to prevent the right to travel.

I don't see how I was overreacting.

I'm just frankly amazed at how many people think it's ok to bar citizens from interstate travel, as if that's not something that was not a hallmark of the USSR and all other severely authoritarian regimes. And then for the same people to talk about freedom. The mental gymnastics hurt to watch.

There is a whole lot of forcing going on and it only seems to be in one direction. But sure, how are airlines and buses going to determine who is pregnant or not? Will you get a special sticker direct from the government after your egg is fertilized and do you need weekly check-ins with the local branch to confirm that the fetus still has a heartbeat? If its twins do you pay for 3?

Perhaps they'll give them big gold stars to sew onto their clothes, or red capes to wear....
