Are you for real? The driver should’ve waited until they were in a safe place to stop and exit the vehicle - it was a busy highway!! This endangered everyone, ended a life and probably traumatized the driver of the car that hit the victim.

Granted, I'm assuming the man was rather drunk. If so, could he have been responsible for his own error?  The deceased man should have taken greater care before exiting the vehicle. Your accountability over your body still matters, even if you're drunk.

Yes, the driver could have stopped in a better place. But perhaps things were getting really out of hand and dangerous at that moment for the driver. I'm not so quick to pass judgment on the driver - I'm sure there are some really awful, awful passengers. It's not like the Lyft driver pushed him into the other car.

I do feel very badly for the other driver though - I agree this must be extremely, awfully traumatizing for them. [/quote]
