I hear ya sister!
I am on this diet due to a chronic illness and yes, it's better than dialysis but it s-u-c-k-s. OTOH, I actually have a waist! And my skin and hair look great |
I lost 43 pounds on an extreme diet (Ideal Protein) 5 years ago. I looked and felt fabulous. You nailed it, sister, when you said it’s harder to cheat occasionally than stay on the strict diet. I’ve gained back about 7 pounds per year, so now I’m plump again. I know some people have success allowing the weight to pile up (on the order of my 7 pounds annually) with strict dieting in, say, January—to lose those 7. I haven’t been able to do it. If you crack the code, let me know! |
Yawn. You sound fun. |
OK? |
Oh, and please, oh please, give the utmost predictable retort and say “you sound fat.” God knows I could use the laugh today. |
Is it all about looks though? Or is it an investment in your long term health. |
But really, is it worth the extra few years? Based on what I have seen, it's not. The people I know who strictly follow this diet are typically not enjoyable to be around, nor are they happy with themselves or the people in their lives. There's a certain personality that prioritizes it to an extreme, I agree that moderation is hard, but it probably is the answer. I am glad you posted, OP. I think it represents what a lot of people think and feel. |
I remember feeling this way on the Whole 30. I started getting nauseous looking at eggs. Plenty to eat (so many vegetables) but I started feeling a little depressed. If I were only 125 while eating and drinking whatever, I sure as heck wouldn't do that diet for a model body.
Signed...160lb currently on weight watchers... |
Don’t you sound ‘fun’ |
I’d be curious to see this because a recent and widely reported study on BMI/longevity actually led to the conclusion that people who are mildly overweight actually live the longest. It’s pretty interesting. https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/could-a-few-extra-pounds-help-you-live-longer/ |
You sound sad actually. |
|
I’m the OP of the thread about the US food supply and I hear you OP. I’m seriously considering retiring to Europe where I can apparently eat more and enjoy it more without gaining weight. I don’t want to do some crazy strict gluten free and sugar free diet which is apparently the answer here in the US.
No answers, just saying I hear you. |
Hahaha |
The people who live the longest are in the "overweight" BMI category (not obese) |
