Some U.S. students re-think college plans in states with abortion bans

You need to spend your dollars elsewhere, people.
Push for businesses to leave such states.
Lower their GDP.
Economic pressures have historically always worked best to change so-called "hearts and minds".

I would. I had an abortion in college and it was hard enough getting someone to drive me to and from the clinic. I can’t imagine having to figure out flying to another state. And of course that would add at least $500 to the cost if not more, have to skip class and work. A nightmare.

In one of Sally Rooney’s novels a character talks about her ambivalence and anxiety towards men/sex and the abortion fund she has to have ready so she can cope. That’s what I’d advise any woman enrolling in a abortion ban state to do: have a plan for where you will fly, and have a $1500 abortion fund.

Why not get an IUD?

It's not about brainwashing; it's about liberty and freedom.

What other liberties are the political elite in Texas about to strip away from its citizens?

Why not fight back and teach out kids to do the same. They are the future and they are the ones that need to fight this battle all over again.

I am watching with alarm what the psychos in Richmond are planning.

This is such a nightmare all around.

We can do both, but saving up for a potential abortion and air travel?

Get thee to a GYN who can put in an IUD. I am sending my 19 year old in mid August.

Good birth control is a no-brainer for any and all sexually active college students wherever they go to school.

But I object to the shoving back of women into the past to the point that I don't want to spend the college dollars in such a state. Sorry.

Liberty from not being racially discriminated in education and other areas (if you’re Asian)?

Agreed. But an IUD is a good idea in case of sexual assault. You can't insist on a condom or put in your diaphragm if you are unconscious. And if pills become unavailable, IUDs last for years.

Don't let anyone tell you that abortion is not used for birth control.

Don't let anyone take over your autonomy to make your own private healthcare decisions about your own body.

It’s not totally about abortion.

My son and daughter both refuse to go to states that treat women (and minorities & LGBTQ) like trash.
