Uh this is not something new at all.
It has happened in the past repeatedly.
Some got lucky and not caught yet.

Funny that these elite schools cheat, but people always pick on schools like Tulane Northeastern for 'gaming' LOL

They cheat as well.

For 1 Columbia is not Harvard. And 2 if you read the article submission to US news is due today so all the other colleges likely already submitted their info to USnews.

For 1, Columbia and Harvard are interchangeable except the latter is Waspy, less diverse, and more antisemite and anti Asian.

Or evolve to allowing each individual student to create their own personalized ranking based on factors that matter to them.

Uh students already do that.
The published rankings are just part of the references and factors.

Students don't currently have access to a calculator that will take the factors they think are important plus the weight they want to assign and rank them. This would be infinitely more useful than a ranking based on someone else's idea of what' counts when making a decision.

Columbia had General Studies and Barnard. So no Columbia and Harvard are not interchangeable.

Harvard has its extension school not to mention their 2 week cert programs.

Stop people...you are acting like 10th graders. Now stop nitpicking which Ivy is better and go enjoy the Independence Day weekend.

Does this mean that Columbia won't appear on the next rankings?

Northwestern Villanova etc.

The critique against Northwestern falls flat. Hiring your own graduates doesn't seem even remotely as egregious as falsifying data. At least those grads are getting paid.

I think they will come back. I went to GW and years ago they had to pull their data vowing not to come back and they did. US News, for better or worse, moves markets. The Jim Cramer of college rankings. Meaning often wrong, but still has market power.

They shouldn't have cheated. Their true ranking is probably closer to 15 like it is on WSJ.

This is funny, but unfortunately, also true.
