Calling BS. There's no honors phys ed.

PP Explained - the middle school non-honors algebra and language classes would also get dropped out in this scenario because it would not be beneficial. Enjoy the brief moments of 5.0 before Chorus and phys ed sully it.

Log into Naviance
Go to About Me in the upper right hand corner
Choose your kid's account
The weighted and unweighted GPAs will be in the Academic block

Does anyone know when the GPAs in Naviance are updated (relative to when report cards issue)?

It should be updated now. Go into Naviance, check out weighted and unweighted GPAS. They should be up to date. At least, my kid's GPAs are.

I started to do it and gave up because I couldn’t figure out which courses were weighted plus the MS courses, etc., over multiple years. Too complicated.

Oh dear...

I did it now, with PP’s helpful comment about the document issued in November which indicates which is weighted. It’s pretty confusing as she has 10 MS grades that carry over and it seems to me entirely arbitrary which are weighted and which are not. The weighting of language is also pretty arbitrary — at some point it becomes weighted? Unless you know how they classify it, it’s pretty complicated.

Congrats! It is an accomplishment for sure.

But I guess I don't understand the calculation. Presumably your son took a phys ed or elective, so how does that calculate to a 5.0?

I'm not aware of any Honors Algebra 1 nor an honors Foreign Language 1, no honors first level art or tech class.

So, please, post the school where your child addends.

For current freshmen, the Middle School grades only get calculated into the GPA when it helps. So, if the student did all Honors/Magnet/AP classes this year, and got As in all of them the high school 5.0 would not include the MS grades.

No magnet student takes Algebra 1 or Lang 1 as a freshman. It was required by my kid’s program that he had at least Algebra 1 and Language 1 completed in HS to apply. He had 3 years of language in middle school. I was calculating his freshman GPA only.
