I should report this for being disinformation as I would bet her water broke and then the bag resealed and she carried until actual viability or term and so a 16 week fetus did not survive on dry land, but I’ve begun to think that we should let people see the level of stupidity in forced birther “sources.”

Bless your heart. Because newly expectant parents should always research the laws relating to abortion before traveling because you never know when your life might be placed at risk due to miscarriage. Thankfully the women can be transferred to Spanish territory for necessary medical treatment. But by all means wallow in your cavalier smugness.

They absolutely should. You never want to be trapped somewhere where the laws are against you and you're facing death for that reason. And its not like they didn't know they were pregnant as they characterized this holiday as a 'babymoon' on social media.

+1. No criticism of anyone who doesn’t and get trapped in a bad situation, but I would urge any pregnant woman to make contingency plans at all stages of pregnancy, and not just for extreme cases like this. I absolutely looked up hospital info for every minor work trip in every trimester and turned down an international work trip to a country where I did not know much about prenatal care and suspected I would have trouble accessing good care for multiple reasons. A colleague of mine mentioned she was opting for 45 minute flights over a 3.5 hour drive for a work trip on the advice of her doctor, who said in the event of an emergency, better to be in a plane with flight attendants that can land within 20 min and get her into an ambulance than to be driving alone and an hour from the closest hospital. (She had a condition with slightly elevated risk/monitoring needs.)

In what universe does this happen? Not this one.

women are going to die in this country from this nonsense. like, she wasn't even willingly ending a pregnancy (which is, of course, none of anyone's business, but...)

A woman dying from an incomplete miscarriage is absolute insanity in the modern era. But, you know...misogyny and stupidity.

Well, women can be smart now and not travel to Texas for any reason. Spend your hard earned money in a State that supports women.

She should have come here to Canada instead. We have no abortion law at all. Nothing for 30 years. It is considered a medical procedure, not your neighbor's business, and the only guidelines are what are set by the various medical associations in each province. I don't even know why you need a law. The system works fine without one. We don't have a particularly high rate of them compared to other countries.

I honestly need to figure out how to legally take my girls to Canada when this idiotic place decides to have a nationwide ban.

Apparently, most Americans don't know that Europe isn't big on abortions after 12 weeks.

+1 Grow up, it’s a big world out there and demanding little Americans can’t always have it their way.

Canada is a superior country to us in so many ways. We are definitely the stupid cousin.
