This isn't an opinion. The Bible says it. Go read it. |
where? There are 39 books in the old testament, and 27 in the new testament -- so 66 books. So again, cite please, unless you got nothing. |
^ It's in Matthew, Luke and Mark - Jesus reportedly said it. These verses doesn't say it's the only unforgivable sin though. |
No, it was for blasphemy. The Romans didn’t have an issue with him but they executed him to appease the locals. Also the Maccabean War was still a recent memory. |
Joseph was the man who raised Jesus from birth, and who accepted a child who was not biologically his. He was a great dad. He was a real dad. You don’t have to be a bio parent to be a real parent. |
It is referred to as the Immaculate Conception in my Catholic church. Immaculate meaning clean, no sex, no sperm. That's how Sister Cabrini told it. |
Wikipedia is a thing. You should try it. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eternal_sin |
Wikipedia, of all places, seems to have gathered some of the key verses with their scriptural references. While I in no way view Wikipedia as having scriptural authority, the scriptures it lists may serve as a starting place for further research. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eternal_sin |
Mary was the Immaculate Conception, not Jesus. She did not have Original Sin. Her parents had sex. It has nothing to do with how she (or Jesus) was conceived. https://www.catholic.com/tract/immaculate-conception-and-assumption |
Christ was conceived without sex, but the Immaculate Conception is actually the conception of Mary, held by Catholics, to be without the stain of original sin. Most Christians believe Jesus was conceived without sex, but the Immaculate Conception is a distinctively Catholic belief. |
I don't think it was for blasphemy. It was for making trouble at the temple. See, e..g.: Mark 11:15-19 15 On reaching Jerusalem, Jesus entered the temple courts and began driving out those who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the benches of those selling doves, 16 and would not allow anyone to carry merchandise through the temple courts. 17 And as he taught them, he said, “Is it not written: ‘My house will be called a house of prayer for all nations’ ? But you have made it ‘a den of robbers.’ ” 18 The chief priests and the teachers of the law heard this and began looking for a way to kill him, for they feared him, because the whole crowd was amazed at his teaching. 19 When evening came, Jesus and his disciples went out of the city. I think it is interesting that Mohammed was run out of Mecca for largely the same reason, upsetting the commercial interests with his views of religion. |
Your feigned ignorance is truly astonishing. There's a website called Google.com. It has a search bar. If you type in blasphemy against holy spirit unforgivable sin, the first page of search results includes this quoted verse: Mark 3:28–30: "Truly I tell you, people will be forgiven for their sins and whatever blasphemies they utter; but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit can never have forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin." In case you never Googled anything, here is the Google search result page: https://www.google.com/search?q=blasphemy+against+holy+spirit+unforgivable+sin |
I love when the book club debates the lore

How would you even "blaspheme" "the holy spirit"?
I googled it and there are many pages of explanations, but none very precise. Most of those pages struggle to explain it. One thing I liked was "only an unsaved person who is aware of who God is can do it ". https://www.christianity.com/wiki/holy-spirit/what-is-the-blasphemy-of-the-holy-spirit.html Since I am not aware who god is, I guess I can say whatever I want without fear. Cool! |
But Mary and Joseph didn't have sex while she was pregnant with Jesus, did they? There's nothing in the Bible about that, but she wouldn't have been pure if she'd had sex. |
