I saw this in one of those signs that have different ‘words of wisdom’ each week.
It said ‘’Jesus had two dads and he turned out fine’’. I’m not Christian but know the stories. I’m not getting the two dads bit though. The ‘father’ and the ‘holy spirit’? Mary was a virgin so her husband, Joseph, wasn’t really the dad. Legal dad maybe. So the it’s the Christian God and Joseph? |
Probably this. I don’t know what they meant, but that makes the most sense |
|
Riiiight. Not exactly the homosexuality that the conservatives are scared of, so this really just serves as a wink-nudge to other liberals. |
In other words, a lame attempt to appear “inclusive”. |
| It’s making reference to God and Joseph. And fyi…..Mary wasn’t a virgin in the sense we use that word today. I’m those days the word virgin meant young unmarried woman. It’s takes a sperm and an egg to make a baby. |
More of a joke, or a bit of irony. |
| Bible says blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is - the only - unforgivable sin. Just saying. In case you are Christian. |
He had a biological father, and a father who was legally responsible for him and loved him as his own by virtue of being married to his biological parent, just like most kids born via surrogacy to two fathers. |
Well — a sperm and an egg is the normal way to make a baby, but (not being an expert) I’m pretty sure that we have the technology today to hypothetically clone a human. I know we have the technology for artificial insemination. If that is within the realm of modern human capacity, let alone what what we might develop in the future (teleportation, genetic engineering, nanites, things we haven’t even imagined), then assuming you believe in God (which I do), I’m willing to assume his capabilities would be even greater, and I’m not prepared to call him a liar. |
| I mean he was killed in his 30s for inciting violence against the government but I guess for some value of fine… |
No, it's not "just like" Jesus's parents were a gay male couple. At all. Jesus's mother, Mary, who gave birth to him, was in a heterosexual marriage. |
|
In catholic school, the nuns always referred to Joseph as being the foster or step father of Jesus. He took care of Jesus as he would his own son, just as many step parents do.

| Mary was definitely Joseph’s beard |
