Also, if your tween isn't too small, check out the small/petite sizes of women's shorts.
Buy in the boys section. It will also save you money.

Boy shorts! This summer, I've bought shorts at Hanna and from H&M for my tween girl who likes longer (above the knee) knit shorts. They work especially well if your kid is slim/pre-puberty.

Poke around at Target and they have lots of jean shorts that are longer.
why do girls clothes suck so much?
+1 I cannot understand that for the life of me! I get that sexism is a thing and even girls are expected to be cuter but you’d think after decades of people complaining about this, at least Target would change. At least they have made boy clothes a little more fun. |
They do suck. Not every tween/teen wants to wear hot pants and white tennis skirts. I spend hours online trying to find things that my daughter will like and I can accept. It’s a struggle.
Is she able to wear a womens size? My daughter found so cute longer shorts (but with skinny legs) at old navy. They are super cute
One option is to turn pants into shorts.
Target has some longer knit shorts that I buy for my girls every year.
Gap has denim shorts in a variety of lengths. So does Boden girls if she can wear a 14

My 18 yo has worn boys/mens shorts and pants for years, primarily because they have real pockets.
