| Yes. Field trips are back. We did all of them as usual. |
Our elementary school just had a trip to the kids museum. It was really wonderful |
Your kids are also super weird. So you know. Pros & Cons |
| We had two, one to the zoo and one to Butler's Orchard, both in the last few weeks, so hopefully they're coming back. |
| If people want to know where the inequities exist- it’s with field trips. I asked a teacher at our Title 1 school and she said they are open, but they don’t feel comfortable planning one and collecting money for it. She said that even Mad Science in school trip was $7 per child and that was too much to ask for. It makes me sad. |
Op here. Yes, at some schools. That was my question-for those whose schools have also not had any friend trips if they heard anything about next year. |
| Field trips are horrible. So much paperwork. Finances is a nightmare. So many medications to keep track of. High maintenance parents who treat you like their travel agent. If field trips are important to you, work with your PTA and coordinate with administration and see if PTA volunteers can take some of the work off teachers. Teachers are too busy to coordinate field trips. |
Congrats?? They still are the homeschooled weirdos. |
| Our third grader went on field trips to kids museum and a nature center. |
| Our MS took field trips to DC (6th and 8th grades) and Baltimore (7th). |
| Our middle school did end of the year trips. There were no field trips in elementary this year. |
If it makes you feel better, we had no field trips this year at our bethesda school. We got a new principal during the pandemic and apparently she just didn’t want to do them? I’m really irritated that other schools were doing them. I’m positive it’s not the teacher team at our school—they are great and I think always loved the field trips and we always had tons of parent volunteers to chaperone and help with logistics. Our fifth graders always got to go to St Mary’s or Mt Vernon—such a great educational opportunity. Really sad these things didn’t happen. |

not much learning is done during your typical field trip, so i don't miss them.
they need to do away with virtual field trips - they are an absolute waste of time. if they must do something with a screen, they should just put on a natgeo video. |
School is so much more than just about learning. Field trips are valuable because they provide kids with new experiences, social interactions and fun. There’s nothing wrong with plain fun. Some people on this forum also seem to forget that many kids don’t get The same opportunities that many of our kids get. They don’t get to go to the zoo unless it’s with school. They don’t get to go to the Strathmore unless it’s with the school, they will never get the opportunity to experience, name your field trip, unless it’s with a school. |
Sounds like your kid goes to Whetstone? |
