What a bizarre school to go to for full pay.

It was my DCs choice, and it was a good choice for DC. Money wasn't a factor in the decision. Maybe it isn't the right choice for you. Luckily there are lots of good colleges so pick another one.

Son went there for a year after being recruited for soccer. He transfered after freshman year. He felt it was too small with nothing to do socially after his soccer season ended

Saved me a lot of tuition money!!!!

You are an obnoxious snob.

My kid liked Dickerson. Also looked at Franklin & Marshall, SMCM, Juniata, Hamilton and Mount Holyoke (all LAC’s that were strong in Science).

Oh, congrats! Do you mind mentioning which school or any others that your family considered? We're trying to put together a college list for our twins who like LACs in PA and the Midwest. Thanks!

DP. Juniata, Elizabethtown, Goucher, and St. Mary's of MD gave very generous merit offers.

I would not pay for this school at full pay. There are much better state schools or larger sized SLACs than Dickinson.
Hard pass.

Serious question: Can you name a few? We really like Dickinson. St Mary’s of Md is a contender since we live in MD. UMD is just too large.

NP, and my DC went to Dickinson. UMD was not even on the table as DC only looked at SLACs. DC didn't like St Mary's at the time - too isolated, and a sense that a lot of students went home on weekends (DC visited on a Friday and many were leaving for the weekend). It's a great deal for an instate SLAC equivalent though.

Sure there are probably better schools. My DC didn't get into those. I am not sure why people on this board don't understand this point. Frankly those schools probably wouldn't have been a good fit for DC. Dickinson was.

Not worth it for a school in a LCOL area

I feel people who write that don’t understand the process. Glad you found a school that is a great fit for your child.

+1 already seeing this at a memorial day party with a lot of parents of juniors. DD is looking at LACs and Dickinson is on her list. Seems to be a match for GPA but I think it's unlikely to come in where we need it on $ but she's giving it a shot. She has a couple schools like that plus safeties like Juniata, SMCM, Allegheny. Parents who have no idea of her GPA saying why doesn't she look at schools XYZ -- Schools with sub-20% acceptance rates, or maybe higher but don't give merit aid. Made me realize I need to stay out of those conversations. And I expect to hear those same parents next year complaining about how expensive college is and/or how unfair the process is because their kid didn't get into the schools they unrealistically thought were matches.

We checked it out and came away impressed. Checked out their YouTube channel. The school really exudes a good vibe. Part of me wishes that DC had gone there!
