Top Gun. Elvis. Jurassic Park. Buzz Lightyear. Firestarter. Going to the movies is so played out.

Am I just getting old?

Consumable entertainment always seemed overpriced to me. I watch my spending in that department.

I'd much rather pay $19.99 to Amazon and watch Top Gun: Maverick with my family of 4 in my own home, than go to a cinema and pay three times that. We haven't been to the movies as a family in many, many years.

However, I'll go with my best friend to see the new Downtown Abbey, just the two of us. Last time we did that was 3 years ago, so it's a rare indulgence.

I think Maverick, of all movies, is really worth seeing on the big screen. The flying scenes are really special. We saw it in IMAX and I think worth every penny.

OK, well you do you then! It was fun seeing it with a crowd of people who were also enjoying it, but maybe you have a crowd at home, too.

We rent out rooms in our house to immigrants. We also rent out rooms to immigrants in our basement too. We always have a full house. Our last name is not Tanner unfortunately but my oldest daughter's name is DJ.

Spoiler alert. Tom Cruise's character is never really in any danger. Because you know he's gotta make a 3rd sequel for the studio. Then a 4th. Then a 5th.

PP you replied to. Yes, you make a great point. I'll think about it, it's true one of the great joys of my life was to see The Lord of the Rings on the big screen, so fighter jets screaming through the air would be even better. Not IMAX, I'll get sick, though

Go see Everything Everywhere all at once. Truly inventive and fresh.

We saw Midway in the theatre. It was not a good movie but the fighting scenes were amazing on the big screen!

It's being released to Paramount+ in like 40ish days. I'll save my $$ and see it there.

You miss out on all the communal laughing, clapping, calling out…experiences with groups can be quite fun.
