Consumable entertainment always seemed overpriced to me. I watch my spending in that department. I'd much rather pay $19.99 to Amazon and watch Top Gun: Maverick with my family of 4 in my own home, than go to a cinema and pay three times that. We haven't been to the movies as a family in many, many years. However, I'll go with my best friend to see the new Downtown Abbey, just the two of us. Last time we did that was 3 years ago, so it's a rare indulgence.
I think Maverick, of all movies, is really worth seeing on the big screen. The flying scenes are really special. We saw it in IMAX and I think worth every penny.
PP you replied to. Yes, you make a great point. I'll think about it, it's true one of the great joys of my life was to see The Lord of the Rings on the big screen, so fighter jets screaming through the air would be even better. Not IMAX, I'll get sick, though :-)
