You must not have been a first gen student.

No need for bad blood here. Yes we know all too well that college graduations are important and families come out of the woods to attend, but never in my wildest dreams would I have thrown a fit like these delicate grads.

Slow clap.

You need to calm down.

Call it what you want. But everything has changed as a result of this sad and tragic decision. Don't blame the students.

Were anyone here ever a college student? Chill everyone, it is a joke and college kids are just being college kids.... Sheesh!

I feel bad for the 2021/20 graduates, having Taylor Swift at one ceremony and then a disability rights advocate at the other is ridiculous. That's the University's fault, not Taylor Swifts though. Assuming they're paying her to appear, pay someone similar to appear for the other ceremony.

I think the “payment” is an honorary degree.

I was a first gen student and child of immigrants. I did not attend, I could have cared less and my mom was a single mom, I didn’t want her to think she needed to take time off to travel to my college just for a walk across the stage.

My husband was also a first gen student and child of immigrants. He went to his graduation but his parents did not attend, they were working.

But yes, let me wipe away the tears of these poor NYU grads that don’t get Taylor Swift to give them a speech.
