Taylor Swift's absence from NYU graduation ceremony prompts protest

I'm glad I don't have to sit through another outdoor stadium graduation ceremony no matter who is speaking. You need binoculars to see your own kid, not to mention a speaker. (She's not even singing, is she?) That said, it is pretty shabby treatment of their long-suffering students.

What an insanely childish petition from a college graduate.

I can't stop laughing.

Seems they did not learn the right lesson from their 4 year education.

Maybe every college should complain they did not get Taylor to speak just be to be fair.

So funny, my kid is class of 2022 and majorly rolled her eyes when she learned that Taylor Swift was the graduation speaker. (She's clearly not a Tisch grad.) And Judy Heumann is a rock star to me. I can see Gen Zs being disappointed that it's not someone more famous to them, but a petition? Gah.

C'mon. This is more about how the students believe NYU handled Covid than it is about Taylor Swift.

That is truly laughable!

Nah. It's about Taylor Swift. This is part of the petition: She is the voice of our generation. We have grown up with her music and have been inspired by her journey in the music industry. More so, Taylor Swift IS the music industry. For the Class of 2021, Taylor’s album, reputation, was released during our Freshman year. Then, Lover was released during our junior year. And finally, folklore and evermore came at the end of 2020 to fully define our senior year at NYU.

Ugh please. I didn't even attend my college graduation. No clue if anyone spoke at it or who. Shake it off.

No need for bad blood here. Yes we know all too well that college graduations are important and families come out of the woods to attend, but never in my wildest dreams would I have thrown a fit like these delicate grads.
