BOE candidate, Esther Wells

I love supporting black moms who believe in open schools, holding MCPs accountable to its core mission of educating kids in reading and math, and would 100% choose adding teachers over more central office staff any day. Voting for her. Time for fresh blood.

Sounds like what I am looking for in a candidate.

Schools in Montgomery County are funded extremely well. Unfortunately, the school system and the BOE waste an incredible amount of money.

The school system doesn’t need more funding, the school system needs more oversight to ensure less waste.

Sounds like you’re ok voting for a homophobe.

I don't mind Fryar at all.

Heck, in a pinch I could vote for Dawn just to keep the CO honest.

Not keen on ultra conservatives, but the fact Wells can audit the MCPS books is appealing to me.

The smear campaign here against Fryar Dawn Wells just convinces me how afraid status quo is of having their rocks flipped.

It’s not a smear campaign. These are facts. They are concealing their true conservative Republican views. They are misrepresenting themselves to the public. They’re hoping that their calls to “never close schools again!!!” will blind people to their ideological BS.

Honey, trust me, the “status quo” is not hanging out on DCUM. These people have been EVERYWHERE during the pandemic - parents know them because they have been so obnoxious about their views. And can we please stop with the “bucking the status quo” crap - that’s how we got Trump. Different doesn’t mean better. We see how that turned out.

It should be appealing to all taxpayers. Why would someone be against that?

You are publicly accusing Wells of being a homophobe. Please provide a specific, documented incident that backs up your statement.

Dawn and the reopen mcps Facebook group moderators repeatedly report any comments about themselves. So that is why you will notice them disappearing constantly. They love to dish out harsh criticism but can’t take it.

Nope. I don't support the current BOE. However, that's not going to convince me to ever vote for a nutjob like Dawn. Maybe do some research before just assuming things. People like you (not doing any research) are how we get into messes with candidates.

Anonymous wrote:Also! Esther Wells leads a church who won’t marry gays. Awesome.

On her church’s website:
“Marriage is a biblical institution established by God as clearly described in the scriptures. This Church recognizes that marriage is the uniting of one man and one woman in covenant commitment for a lifetime. Accordingly, this Church, its pastors and staff will not participate in same sex unions or same sex marriages, nor shall its property or resources be used for such purposes. (Gen. 2:21-25; Matt. 19:3-9)”

So her church follows biblical Christianity? Awesome.

Belonging to a church that doesn't believe in gay marriage doesn't make you a homophobe.

Somehow people on here can make harsh accusations about the candidate being a homophobe and that is perfectly acceptable. I guess we can randomly throw out such accusations about anyone at any time. Crazy.

Why did it take digging to find out what organization she leads? She isn’t proud of her church?
