| They can’t have NO makeup opportunity for kids who are sick, rt? Surely there will be an option? |
College Board offers only those two dates for that particular test. |
Which school? It’s a teacher work day. |

Churchill mentioned above; Springbrook; RM |
Someone said Churchill will be on May 2. Same for other two named? WJ is May 20. |
RM is doing AP Gov on May 2 and the other May 2 exam.... AP Chem maybe??? I didn't pay that much attention. I was surprised. I thought for sure I read that the 2 AP exams would ONLY be held on the make-up date. |
| Blair HS is also giving AP Exams on May 2. My son is at a HS not giving exams on May 2, but we arranged with the test advisor to be at school to take the exam on May 2 due to a conflict on the May 20 make-up date. I believe PP is correct that students who take those exams on the make-up date then have no additional make-up date. Very few students by % celebrate EID. It was short-sighted on the part of MCPS to cancel May 2 exams for those not celebrating. It was also short-sighted to have individual high schools make their own decisions about testing because the inconsistency is very confusing. |
Einstein is May 20. |
I don't know how decisions on May 2 AP testing are being made. Is it by local high schools? Is it by central office? It's unfortunate that a better communication approach hasn't been coordinated. |
It's by local high schools. Depends on staffing to proctor the exams. |
The county is about 1.2% Muslim as a whole. I am not sure whether that carries to the student population as well. I agree that this was bungled up though, as there should be consistency. Having the professional day makes sense, but then the College Board should not have scheduled that date for an exam. It's their fault that causes confusion. |
| The college board messed up big time by holding any AP exams on Eid. |
This isn't a new phenomenon. In the past MCPS and other school systems have asked the College Board to reschedule around Eid but they have responded negatively, pointing to the availability of the alternate test dates. |

Is it only our HS (Churchill) that has been advertising for AP test proctors? We've been receiving advertisements since January-- they will pay the sub rate for people to proctor the tests (I think all dates, not just May2). I assume the idea is to avoid taking teachers out of the classrooms (for their non-AP teaching) those dates.
