I care because I love my kids. You should try it.

I only love my children when cases are high. Agree.

Thank you OP for compiling all of this. We're also watching the numbers and it's helpful to have some analysis offered.

This board has plenty of space for appropriate postings on all topics, and those not interested in a given thread can choose not to read it. I do not see this as spam and am grateful to OP for posting it. I like to remain apprised of what is going on in my community and I find this faster to digest than the dashboard. Thank you, OP.

If you really cared your kids would be virtual.

Many students didn’t thrive in online learning. MCPS should be doing everything possible to keep staff and students in person while protecting them from COVID. The CDC recommends masks as a protective measure.

MCPS just hired a Medical Director. What is her recommendation to the school system?

Well quit whining about Covid then- you made your choice. Virtual and homeschooling work if you put effort into it.

You had plenty of options and choose in person. They said they’d be open no matter what except if the state shut them down. If you cared you would have chosen an alternative.

You can go to the dashboard or state website. V

+1 I appreciate the posts by OP as well. There are safety measures that OPs data points indicate should be reinstated. It’s disappointing that the new MCPS Medical Director and Dr. McKnight is silent on the increasing cases.

I think there were some people who either a) mistakingly thought Covid was “over” last summer or b) legit did not understand that VA was open to anyone. I have a friend who did not want to send her kids to school in the fall but was like, but the VA was only for kids with big medical risks. The problem was that until the delta wave started I don’t think she had seriously looked into VA and by then it was too late. Anyone who applied early was accepted.

I anecdotally know if a couple cases at our school but they are never showing up in the daily data. Why is this?

Did they report testing positive?

My family is in the boat that we have every COVID symptom in the book but the at home tests are negative. Obviously, I can’t go to work with a fever, congestion, vomiting, and headache and neither can my son go to school with those symptoms. I don’t even feel like getting PCR tested. We will stay home till we feel better and we will retest before resuming contact with people outside of our home.

I wonder if many cases in MCPS go unreported. Would a better number be how many staff and students are out of school for illness?

Did they test positive on a test administered by the school? Or use the online form to report a positive result received elsewhere? If not, it won’t show up.

Unethical. It’s it any wonder why people no longer trust MCPS administrators?

It was advertised everywhere anyone could apply to VA. Stop making excuses. They took plenty of students who applied in July/August. How would you think it would be over that quickly? Her failure to take it seriously is on her, not MCPS.
