Who do men who make 5 figures marry?

The answer it...

MOST women.

Because MOST people in the USA marry into their greater socio-economic group.

I married my husband when he made 5 figures. We were both just graduated from law school and just starting out our careers. He now makes mid 6 figures.

Two partners married each making $60,000 is a damn good life in 90% of the US.

Why are you specifying men (versus women)?

I come from a little community in the US where the average HHI is a mere $50,000 in 2022. A lot of people I know there are married.

Low self esteem? Or maybe the low income man is better looking and more charismatic than the higher earning woman. Or maybe they met in high school/college/early twenties before anyone made decent money.

Women who earn more and doesn’t need a sugar daddy, women who earn less and doesn’t have choice, women who fall in love.

My Yale Law grad nephew just started working with an NGO for $51K. His GF is an year older, already working with a big law firm and making $250K with large bonus and great benefits, they are marrying next month. She has her own money, could care less about his income.

Report back to us in five to ten years when they have a couple of young demanding kids that she carried, birthed and nursed all while managing a grueling big law career that she had to keep up with to support the family.

I am not like that but others are. Every one is different. You shouldn’t judge.

Not judging.

Just trying to understand the mindset of those types of women.

I'm a high level exec and my husband is a teacher. Our kids are in college. What do you want to know?

by definition, half of all women marry men at or below the median. That's kind of how distributions work, genius
