Many schools (though not all, for sure) will be open to inquiries after the deadline, and may or may not call it a 2nd round. It doesn't necessarily mean they have multiple open spots right now. They may just be staying open to students who could fill a need because a class has too many athletes and too few musicians, or isn't gender-balanced, etc. Or they may just like to keep their waitlist robust because there tends to be random attrition in the summer. Big intake years are actually where schools have more flexibility to take their time and get the numbers right. I'm not that familiar with St. Anselm's, but it sounds like they tend to stay flexible for exceptional applicants post-deadline – which also makes sense. |
Advertising it now however is seemingly a red flag. |
| I'm so confused! DC was waitlisted for 6th grade and they're opening up more applications?! |
Maybe there looking for certain demographics, eg, more girls not boys? |
What's more likely is they have openings in non-entry grades. I work at a private school and half our grades are waitlisted/the other half we can still admit a couple students if they exceed requirements. It is unlikely financial aid would be available this late. |
6th grade is an entry year and they’ve announced they’re taking more applicants (despite having a waitlist). |
I saw a St Anslem’s sign today in front of the Mt Vernon Rec Center. I wonder why they are advertising so heavily in the Fort Hunt area? |
Maybe they need more full pay students. Did you request financial aid? |
?? It's not. New admissions people do new and different things sometimes. |
Are you talking about Burke or St AnsElm |
