“ FALL 2022
For the upcoming school year (2022-23), our Round I application deadline was January 7. We may be able to consider applications in Round II if space remains in a specific grade. If you're interested in being considered in Round II, please call us at 202-362-8882. Please note: we are not accepting Round II applications for 7th, 8th, or 10th grade.” (Burke website, visited 4/4/22) |
| Is FA still available? |
| Your question can be answered by calling the Burke school. |
| Spaces may be available in grades 6,9,11 and 12. Great opportunity for someone who is new to the area and was unable to get the application in during the regular cycle. |
| Is this true at other DMV privates too? |
| Probably just at Burke. I doubt they have financial aid to offer but it never hurts to ask. |
I saw a lawn sign at an intersection in Alexandria today that said St. Anslem’s is accepting applications. |
St. Anselm’s yard sign in Alexandria announcing openings? This makes no sense! First, are you sure it wasn’t St. Stephen’s? Second, it might be outdated. |
On the GW parkway divider turning towards the Belle Haven Country Club. 100% sure it was St. Anslems, not SSSAS. It was the only sign and was not there 3 hours earlier when I drove by. |
| Call school in question to find out reality of their situation. |
| See here’s an example of a school doing second round of admissions. |
| So, they are accepting Round II for 9th grade? Isn't that a big intake year? I'm surprised they may have spots in that grade. |
IIRC they have always had rolling admissions, as they tend to be open to accepting a boy who is an exceptional fit at any time. |
Red flag. |
Doesn’t mean they didn’t have enough applicants for 9th, it means they didn’t have enough applicants that were accepted AND chose Burke as their first choice. Private schools know it’s a good time to be picky about who they accept! |
