Messages like “life saving medications like insulin shouldn’t only be for the wealthy”? Like that kind of message? “The police should serve and protect Black people, too”? That kind of sucky message? I think it’s truly that a majority of Republican voters have strong sociopathic tendencies. |
Here are a few in recent years: Defund the police Don't worry about the price of gas. Buy an EV. Inflation is transitory. No need to secure the southern border. Migrants just want to claim asylum. Nothing wrong with teaching K-3 kids about sexual orientation and gender identity. Parents should not have a say in education. It doesn't matter if only a few biological men are allowed to compete in women's sports. The laptop is Russian disinformation. We need to do away with Title 42, but members of the House still need to work from home and be able to vote by proxy. Entertainers and professional athletes can be exempt from vaccine mandates, but everyone else is not exempt. The threat of sanctions wasn't really intended as a deterrent as many in this administration claimed. I know there are more. These are just off my head. |
Yes. |
None of them do. |
Watch less Fox News, lady. You're living in a bubble and parroting what Republican talking heads put in Democrats' mouths. |
You have great memory. So many losing messages from the left. |
Their messages don't suck, they just require nuance to understand, which doesn't play well with the segment of the country that is currently under the thrall of the Republican party. Republicans message with the subtlety of a cudgel. What resonates more with a lower-income, low-education, rural white voter? "IMMIGRANTS BAD, BUILD THE WALL!!!" or "Well, actually, immigrants play an essential role in our labor force, and there is reams of evidence that immigrants - legal or otherwise - neither displace the native-born, nor reduce their wages. In fact, all evidence points to the fact that over a sufficiently long time horizon, job opportunities and wages increase for the native born." |
None of those are Democratic messages. Those are Republican disinformation about Democrats intended to trigger idiots and bigots. |
Not really. I’m a democrat, but would vote for a moderate R, if they exist, if only to shut up the moral absolutists and ideological purists on the left who seem to want to implement questionable policy for “equity”. |
Keep telling yourself that. There are numerous tweets from Dem members of Congress saying "defund the police." There has been only ONE dem House member to speak out about the border crisis in the past year. Silence is complicity, right? Shall I point you to the number of Dem members - including the president himself - who called the laptop "Russian disinformation?" And, Title 42 is going away, thanks to the Biden administration, but the Dems still have closed offices at the Capitol. And, isn't it a Dem mayor who waived the requirement for vaccine mandates for entertainers and athletes but not for other NYC workers? Why, yes.. yes, it was. This is just some of the evidence that these are messages being sent by the Dems ... and none of them are winning messages. |

Marketing? People actually think the reason SOME people reject left-wing politics is because of marketing, and not substance? Ugh.
This is an example of just how intellectually siloed some people have become. |
Two of the most overused words during this administration is "nuance" and "context." In order to "clean up" the disastrous messaging from the left (which usually is correct in promoting their policies), they say that people need to understand "nuance" and put them in "context." No, the messages just suck. As do the policies. And, BTW - more and more LEGAL immigrants are voting Republican. There is a reason for that. |
I’m democrat and agree with many of these, especially defund the police. That was literally the messaging. And liberal DAs decided to try out all this no bail stuff and no prosecuting broken windows and personal property and raising the limits for shoplifting. Do you think people are fking idiots? They see this stuff. It’s done mainly by folks to help “judicial reform in the name of equity”, but really it’s a euphemism for simply allowing crime to happen so families aren’t broken up. People are not okay. |

Sadly, I believe most Americans. One based on their emotions.
The GOP knows how to play to many people’s fears. They campaign not on a platform, but on all the bad things they claim that Dems are doing. And, they speak with one voice almost all the time, repeating the same message over and over again. I wish it weren’t so, but Dems need to learn to play rougher to counteract this. |
