Vaccine for Covid clause in preschool contract

That’s horrifying and you should check into the legality of this and/or runaway fast to another school.

Agreed. You had about 1/600,000 chance of dying from COVID if you were under5. And the vaccine is a merely 40% effective

For those over 30, get the jab. For those under 20, go get COVID unless you have a significant health condition

Doesn't EUA standard for Emergency Use Authorization? Are we still in a state of emergency?

I imagine preschools are requiring it for the comfort of their staff, who may or may not reside with elderly or otherwise immunocompromised individuals. A vaccinated kid might be less likely to transmit some variants.

Ridiculous. I’d ask for that part to be removed and if they won’t then I would go somewhere else. You don’t want to deal with administration like that.

Yes, a pandemic is considered an ongoing emergency situation for this purpose.

It’s coming. Moderna is set to apply for EUA within a week or so.

You know Moderna applied for EUA for kids 12-17 last year and FDA still hasn't acted on it, don't you? What makes you so sure FDA will act on <5 when the vaccine still isn't authorized for older kids?

It is authorized- it’s right there in “EUA”.

It is only authorized for 18 and up. FDA hasn't acted on the EUA for <18 due to myocarditis concerns.

Emergency Use Authorization is authorization.

My Loudoun Co. preschool has this clause.

Must not bother too many parents as there are no spots and a long waitlist.

It’s a private preschool. They can make any rule they want. No Nike sneakers. Only striped socks on Fridays. Attending their school is not a fundamental right.

Yeah you should take gov 101 again. Nothing is stopping the government - local state or fed - from saying private businesses can’t discriminate based on medical decisions of a not-fully-authorized drug. And as PP said, if CDC made this their guidance, most governments would.

There should be an exemption policy.

It's a private school. Not a mandate.

The CDC doesn’t make laws, they issue guidance.

The irony is it is exactly these type of draconian mandates (which the experts feared when grudgingly approving the 5-12 vaccine) that are likely to further delay approval of the under 5 vaccine.
