No wonder it sucks. No one to tell her that it’s boring and unfunny. She really needs that |
Yes! I blew by this comment because I didn't recognize Bridget's name. Somebody Somewhere was so, so good. Much funnier and yet still dramatic. |
Exactly. |
| I watched the whole thing but I am very tired of Amy Schumer playing these sad sack characters. This should not be labeled comedy or humor for one thing as there were a couple funny moments here or there but overall this was not a comedic production. |

Wow. I have always hated Amy Schumer and I loved this show.
Although, I live right where it takes place, and it takes 2 hours to drive to any farm/vineyard from here. That made no sense. Michael Cera was particularly wonderful. |

I loved episode 1 and will keep going.
I also loved Somebody Somewhere, but that was sold as a light comedy at least in the previews I saw, and it is definitely very dramatic, and taking on serious issues like the death of a loved on, alcoholism, infidelity, complex family relationships, etc. so I'm fine with this show also ends up turns more serious or has sad elements to it. It doesn't bother me that Amy sticks to what she knows and doesn't have a ton of range. Feel like there are a million men who play essentially the same role/type of role and don't get criticized. Amy got to do a lot with this show - act, direct, produce, write. Good for her and she probably made a crap ton of money. Probably easier than going back on the road to do standup which is brutal. |
She's doing both! Just announced her new tour dates starting this August. Whatever else you think of her, she seems to be a pretty hard worker. |
| I’m on the second episode and finding it pretty funny. |
Check back |
I love her stand up specials too so I'm glad! |
Pp checking back. I watched all ten episodes. Maybe my expectations were low because of this board but I enjoyed it! It’s not succession or 30 rock, but it is heartfelt, smart, funny and unusual. I’m wondering if Michael Ceras character is supposed to be based on Amy Schumers husband who is on the spectrum and who she has described as being brutally unfiltered? |

I like it. We've seen four episodes.
So far my favorite scene was when she goes to the club with her three friends from high school and meets the personal trainer. That's when I "got" it. The scene concept was believable and familiar if you've ever spent any time hanging out in your smallish hometown after moving away to a big city. But they are also playing it more intensely, in an almost manic way. Her friends are extra jaded and cynical about their lives, and their interest in the trainer is too intense -- it's meant to make you uncomfortable because it's so desperate and sad. And then when the trainer finds out she's from "the city" and becomes intensely obsessed. Again, it's over the top to the point of discomfort and that's why it's funny to me. People really are like that. And they may not be that intense in real life but it feels that way. I feel like she's channeling the same sensibility of her old sketch comedy show (Inside Amy Schumer) but into a drama/dark comedy. It's different and I like it. And I"m not the biggest Amy Schumer fan -- I find her standup kind of middling. But I think she's onto something good here. |
| I'm on episode 5 and didn't really like it that much until episode 4, it's getting better. |
| I watched two or three episodes last weekend, and all week the song I Saw the Signs has been stuck in my head. |
| Did not like it. Watched the entire series with the hope that an upcoming episode would save it. It didn’t. |
